JO PALMER RVN
Jo joined Animal Ark in 2007 after completing her nursing studies at Middlesex University.
Jo enjoys being a nurse, tending to animals and getting on with her day-to-day work.
One of Jo’s responsibilities includes running our in-house laboratory. She is also a Clinical Coach, mentoring trainee nurses who are going through formal training.
In her spare time, Jo volunteers at an animal sanctuary, plays the saxophone and enjoys reading and watching movies.
Jo has 20 (all named) outdoor goldfish – Jenson, Button and Scarface just to name a few.
NICOLA YOUNG RVN
Nicola joined Animal Ark in 2007 after graduating with BSc in Veterinary Nursing.
In addition to her normal nursing duties, Nicola is responsible for our Hydrotherapy unit, providing rehabilitation for dogs and cats! She is also a Clinical Coach, mentoring trainee nurses who are going through formal training.
Nicola is a real animal lover and has a large amount of pets. She has a Shetland Pony called Toby, a Welsh Cob/Palomino cross called Robin, and a Freisian cross called Leon. Six cats – Jasper, Squish, Binx, Amber, Edward and Ashley. Three dogs – a Border Collie called Max, a Jack Russell called Stevie and a cross breed called Lucy adopted from Animal Ark. She also has two rats, a guinea pig, a parakeet and a rabbit called Sammy.
LEANNE WEBSTER RVN
Leanne completed her formal nurse training at Animal Ark in 2015. She is very much patient and client focused, with a hands on approach of ensuring the animals under her care receive the best possible treatment.
She has two cats called Tammy and Tootsie.
Leanne enjoys spending time with family and socialising with her friends.
Shannon joined Animal Ark in June 2015 as a 3rd year Veterinary Nurse Student having studied in West Sussex. Her home county of Essex beckoned her back. Shannon settled in very quickly, passed her exams soon after joining and became another of our Registered Veterinary Nurses.
Shannon has a particular interest in anatomy and physiology, and is a Clinical Coach at Animal Ark, mentoring nursing students and passing on skills and knowledge onto others.
In her spare time Shannon likes dog walks, photography, netball and skiing.
Leanne joined Animal Ark in 2013, making it very confusing as she is the third Leanne on our team.
Leanne carried out formal nursing training with us to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse and take on a senior role within the nursing team.
She enjoys caring for patients and talking to their owners.
In her spare time Leanne loves spending time at the stables with her horses Honey and Marley and socialising with friends. She also has two Frenchies, Rayleigh and Roger, and four rats.
Adrian joined Animal Ark in 2014 before working in the industry at a local animal health charity and studying completing an Extended Diploma in Animal Management.
Initially joining as a Ward Assistant Adrian has progressed through the ranks to qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse and take a senior role in the nursing team.
Adrian’s enthusiasm shines through, and thoroughly enjoys the client interaction involved in nursing duties.
Outside of work Adrian enjoys socialising with friends and keeps active with basketball and badminton.
Daniela has been nursing for a number years, and first started her veterinary career at Animal Ark in 2007.
She went on to work at a number of other vet practices before returning to Animal Ark in 2015. Currently Daniela is currently carrying out her formal nurse training.
Daniela is attracted to all aspects of veterinary nursing and thoroughly enjoys engaging with clients and their pets.
Daniela has four cats, two dogs, rabbits, gerbils, fish and a horse. When she has spare time she follows her passion for cars by attending track racing with friends.
Hollie joined Animal Ark in the first quarter of 2016 as a Ward Assistant whilst completing a university animal science degree.
Prior to joining animal Ark Hollie studied animal care and animal management At Writtle college. She has gained lots of practical experience including working at groomers, kennels, riding stables, veterinary practices and a wildlife hospital for a period of 3 years.
During her first year of studies at university Hollie has had the good fortune to travel to South Africa where she got to work closely with wild animals in rehabilitation centres and qualified in a reptile first aid course.
Hollie is currently carrying out her formal nurse training.
Hollie has a keen interest in veterinary nursing, surgery and dentistry and has a huge passion for animals including exotics which she has been familiar with since a very young age.
In her spare time, Hollie likes to spend time with her own animals which includes African land snails, Syrian hamsters, a bearded dragon and her Yorkshire Terrier Cross “Lillie” who she enjoys taking for long walks in the countryside.
Fran joined Animal Ark in 2017 from South Africa, after working at a British vets in Dubai.
Fran has only ever worked in the animal industry: she started in Reception at a Johannesburg Referral and Emergency Hospital and went on to manage a Pet Grooming Spa.
Fran got into nursing after moving to Dubai with her husband, but after 8 months the decision to move to the UK was made.
Fran is currently carrying out her formal nurse training.
Fran LOVES cats. She owns 5 cats that she hand raised back home in South Africa along with 2 rescued dogs. She has hand raised over 200 kittens and intends to continue this at Ark. She would love to start horse riding again in the UK and continue her animal journey here.
Faye joined the nursing team in 2017. She originally started an animal care apprenticeship back in 2013 in animal care working in a kennel and cattery as well as being in a grooming parlour. After a short time Faye qualified as a small animal hydro therapist and has been qualified for almost 4 years now. As much as she enjoys the rehabilitation of animals, her dream has always been to be on the nursing side as she is extremely passionate about this. At Animal Ark she gets the best of both worlds.
Faye has one little dog, Marley. He is a puggle and is full of personality and just loves hugs.
In her spare time Faye enjoys taking trips out with her young daughter, Lilly, to places like the zoo, safaris or aquariums and visiting family, eating out at some good food restaurants then ending her evening with a few friends and a glass of wine.
Remi joined Animal Ark in 2015 as a practice assistant.
She is now a Registered Veterinary Nurse and hopes to continue working in a small animal practice.
Remi has a (cheeky) ginger and white cat called Tiger. In her spare time Remi enjoys playing netball, cooking and going to comedy shows.
Anna joined the nursing team in 2017.
Anna has a bachelor degree in Animal Husbandry and Welfare. She has worked with horses as a groom and with dogs as a dog sitter.
Anna is currently carrying out her formal nurse training.
Anna loves her dog “Deejay”, an adorable crossbreed.
In her spare time, Anna enjoys walking dogs, socialising with friends and playing tennis.
Rachel is a trainee veterinary nurse carrying out her formal nurse training. She has always been a huge animal lover and has always wanted a career in the sector.
She volunteered for a few years at a local school which is the proud owner of a mini farm complete with goats, chickens, rabbits and alpacas!
Rachel has two tabby cats, a cocker spaniel and an alpaca and says they are all lovely. In her spare time she enjoys family time, music and I adore traveling and exploring new places.
Over the years Micheala gained vast amounts of experience from working in a variety of places including a mobile zoo, many stables and farms before joining the Ark in 2018.
From her experiences her favourite was hand rearing lambs, chicks and calves.
She graduated University with a BSc in Animal Behaviour. Behaviour is Micheala’s passion and she thoroughly enjoys conducting behaviour consults at Animal Ark, either when clients ask her for help or our vets refer cases to her.
Micheala also has many pets herself including Shetland pony Tilly, two dogs, three rabbits and two guinea pigs.
Bethan is a ward assistant in our hospital.
Bethan is a British dressage rider who is passionate about horses. She previously worked as a groom for an international dressage rider and has a qualification in horse care management from Writtle University College.
Bethan has 2 horses, 2 cats and a rabbit.
Jake joined Animal Ark in the summer of 2018 further to his time at Writtle University College where he gained two diplomas in Animal Care.
Jake enjoys caring for animals, especially those in need and feels proud when he sees his knowledge and experience makes a massive contribution to the well-being of our patients.
In his spare time Jake enjoys riding his horse who is called William. He also enjoys walking his two dogs, called Bonnie and Flo, especially on beaches or in woodland.
Piper joined the nursing team in August 2018 straight after her GCSEs and hasn’t looked back since.
She has always been passionate about animals, especially horses and dogs. Piper has been riding since she was four and now owns a lovely horse called Nina. Nina and Piper enjoy competing, normally show jumping but sometimes dressage too. Piper also has a menagerie at home including dogs Rosie and Ralph, a rabbit and even a tortoise.
Rachel and her family were a client for eight years before Rachel volunteered as a practice assistant for six months in 2018.
She then joined the nursing team after completing her GCSE’s. Rachel’s favourite part of the job is getting to care for the cute little puppies and kittens, and seeing different people and pets each day.
In her spare time she loves photography, anything media related and going to concerts. In the past she has owned a whole variety of pets including hamsters, gerbils, rabbits and her current dog, Digit who loves Animal Ark as much as Rachel and loves coming to visit Lyndon!
After graduating from Middlesex University n 2018 as a Veterinary Nurse, Victoria joined us at Animal Ark.
She loves all animals, especially small furries and has two guinea pigs of her own called Dolly and Belle. Having previously owned rabbits, a chinchilla, guinea pigs and hamsters Victoria is always delighted to care for these in the clinic, but one day hopes to ‘go large’ and have a horse of her very own too.
In her spare time she loves to watch movies and listen to music.
Bee is currently in her final year studying a BSc in Animal Management at the University of Greenwich and works for us part-time as nursing back up. Bee really enjoys working with the vets and being hands-on with the animals in looking after them. She hopes to become a veterinary nurse over time.
Animals have been a huge part of her life ever since she was young. She has a dog named Maya, a cat named Snowball, a tortoise named Ben and a pond full of goldfish. Indeed animals are in the family and Bee has worked part-time with her dad who owns an aquarium and a pet shop. Bee has also worked part-time at Surrey Docks Farm where she gained experience working with the farm animals.
In her spare time, Bee enjoys being active: swimming, cycling, walking dogs, playing badminton, cooking, reading and also socializing with friends and family, meeting new people and learning different things every day.
Kayleigh joined Animal Ark in 2018. Prior to joining us, Kay completed a BTEC in Animal Management at Islington College.
Kayleigh has accumulated a lot of practical experience, having worked for five years at her local city farm working with birds of prey, alpacas , ferrets and various farm animals. She was also responsible for giving school groups tours and ran the care farming programme to help people with learning difficulties to get involved with farming .
Kayeligh has two Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Peggie Weggie Woos and Stone, along with a bearded dragon called Skittles and four Dumbo rats .
In her spare time Kay enjoys spending time with her pets, attending music concerts, zoos, and theme parks.
Abby joined Animal Ark at the beginning of 2019. Abby was born in the UK but left before she was a year old and grew up in the Middle East, returning to the UK in 2019.
From a young age she has possessed a passion for animals and while living in Abu Dhabi she dove head first into the equestrian and falconry communities.
She was a senior bird trainer for four years at Emirates Park Zoo working with owls, eagles, hawks, vultures and falcons and helped develop the zoo’s bird facilities.
She married her husband, a herpetologist, in 2016 after meeting at the zoo and together they started their home zoo. Currently Abby has two cats and a baby cane toad, but expected to grow given their return to the UK.
