Party In The Sun

Posted by Lyndon Basha in Events, News | Article permalink on Jul 16 2018

The sun and people came out in full force as we celebrated our 16th anniversary this year for Animal Ark’s annual Carnivale & Open Day on Sunday 15th July.

The hot weather didn’t deter, with people, pets and bikies joining in the fun.

The crowd danced to live music from ‘The Saturlites’ and ‘Three Men and Mo’ (who kindly donated their time), while the barbecue and bar kept everyone well fed and watered.

People were entertained with face painting, hydrotherapy demonstrations, ultrasound demonstrations and simulated operations on Big Ted. Forget about France v Croatia, the real World Cup was played out here, as puppies and dogs chased world cup glory in the Waggy Cup! (although we have to admit some dogs were more interested in eating the ball than scoring a goal).

Lewis and his pals from the British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) roared in on their motorbikes, and kindly donated pet food after departing from High Beach, Epping on their pet food run. A big thank you to their continuing support for local animal charities.

The day managed to raise over £2,000 for local animal charities and Animal Ark’s Stray Fund.  Thank you to everyone for your generous support!

Baby owls melted many hearts again. Congratulations to Kate who correctly picked ‘Jeff’ as the name of the six week old barn owl. Many thanks to the Bixbys for bringing them along.

Raffle Prize Draw Winners were present at the draw or are being notified by phone. Congratulations to our major prize winners:

  • 1st Prize: Michael Kors designer handbag kindly donated by Ms Gordon (won by Mr M Gould)
  • 2nd Prize: £200 Lakeside Vouchers (won by Mrs Parti)
  • 3rd Prize: Amazon Fire (won by Falling Feathers)
  • 4th Prize: Reiss designer handbag (won by Ms P Hart).

As always, a day like this takes a lot of effort and preparation and it would not have been the success it was without the support provided by all those involved including volunteers.

On behalf of our furry friends we would like to say a big thank you for everyone’s support and generosity. Thank you and while we look forward to seeing you over the rest of the year we also hope to see you at our next event on the first Saturday in December – for Santa’s Grotto & Minced Pies.
