‘Four Seasons’ Summer Fair Success

Posted by Lyndon Basha in Events, News | Article permalink on Aug 21 2014

Some early rain showers and what felt like ‘four seasons in one day’ failed to dampen the spirit at the Summer Fair and Open Day on Sunday with a huge amount of pet owners, pets and bikers descending upon Animal Ark.

For those who braved the early rain showers, they were later rewarded with an abundance of sunshine, great food and entertainment.

The British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) roared in with pet food donations, with over 80 items distributed to local animal charities.  In addition, we managed to raise over £2,500 for local animal charities and Animal Ark’s Stray Fund.  A fantastic result and thank you to everyone for their support.

One horse power was swapped with another, with ‘Trixie Cappuccino’ and buggy grabbing everyone’s attention as she trotted down the road.

People got to see what goes on behind the scenes, including Hydrotherapy and Ultrasound demonstrations.

Kids were kept amused with face painting and fun activities throughout the practice, including ‘operating on a giant teddy bear’ and the ‘worm hunt competition’.

Brad from Reptile Haven was showing off the ‘weird and wonderful’, including a royal python snake, gecko, asian forest scorpion, bearded dragon,  hissing cockroach, African millipede and a 12 foot Burmese python.

Thank you to all those who kindly baked items for the cake stall which was as big a hit as usual.

A special thank you goes to Ifti Khan of Kebabish Original and Bonnie Diamond & Coe. Ifti put on an amazing BBQ that had many going back for seconds and thirds (not that anyone was counting!).  Bonnie Diamond & Coe set the mood with their fabulous live music topped off with a Happy 80th Birthday to Jim Camp, one of Animal Ark’s first clients since 2002.

Raffle Prize Draw Winners have been notified by phone. Congratulations to our major prize winners: 1st Prize – Ipad Mini (Mrs Hartland of Ilford), 2nd Prize – Picnic Bench donated by ‘Wood We Build’ (Miss M Putney of Ilford), 3rd Prize – Kid’s Play Table donated by ‘Wood We Build’ (Mr Spencer).

On behalf of our furry friends we would like to say a big thank you for everyone’s support and generosity.

A day like this takes a lot of effort and preparation and it would not have been the success it was without the support provided by all those involved.

….and the awards go to

The Noisiest Award:  No surprises, the Bikers from the BMF roaring in with pet food donations.

The Coolest Transport Award: Goes to the Defraines who parked up in their buggy with Trixie Cappuccino..

The Watch My Waistline Award: Goes to all the bakers who kindly donated yummy cakes and other items.

The Feel Good Factor Award: Goes to everyone, knowing that we managed to raise over £2,500 for pets in need.

The Most Appreciated Award: Goes to all of those in the Animal Ark community for your continued support.

The Tried but Failed Award:  Goes to the rain, despite the early downpour it did not dampen everyone’s spirits.

Was a good day out for Bear (the puppy) – he loved all the attention he received (show-off!). Where can we find the rest of the photographs…?
