Inspiring Future Vets

Posted by Lyndon Basha in News | Article permalink on May 13 2014

Emma Hall BSc(Hons) BVM&S MRCVS, one of our vets visited Central Park Primary School recently and talked to the Year 3 group.

Emma ran interactive sessions with the classes looking at how to care for pets, what to feed them, how to house them and the role of a vet in pet health care.

She also brought along a tortoise and rabbit for the children to experience first hand some of the animals we care for.

Emma explaining the anatomy of a tortoise to school children

The children asked about many subjects, and impressed us with their level of maturity and depth of questions. Emma was also happy to get  a good report card from the teacher!

So thank you to Central Park Primary School  and the Year 3 group for the opportunity.  We enjoy helping educate children about pets (and what kind of careers people can choose in looking after animals).

If you have a special event or would like us to talk to a year group, we would encourage any school in the local area to get in contact with us. We like to run interactive sessions, bringing animals and models helping make the event fun and interesting.

Fantastic to hear you are interested in animal care. Best thing to do is contact Gemma by phone on 02085998544 who co-ordinates work experience, although please appreciate we are unable to accommodate anyone under the age of 16 due to health and safety.
