Lyndon Basha has been with Animal Ark since it opened in 2002.
Lyndon graduated from University of Queensland, Australia in 1991, before coming to England in 1992.
He says “It is an honour and a privilege to be a vet. I enjoy everything involved day to day. Perhaps the most enjoyment is the fact each and every day you have no idea what challenges will be involved”.
Lyndon has a large menagerie of pets including cats, dogs and small furries.
He enjoys spending his spare time with his family.
Alex graduated from the University of Bristol in 2017 and joined the Animal Ark team shortly after.
Alex is originally from rural Worcestershire and (unlike his cat Sooty) is a keen sportsman. Although he used to play rugby and sprint competitively, he has now traded these activities in for the more sedate climbing and snooker.
In his spare time he likes to explore the hidden secrets of London and, when the weather permits, go hiking and wild camping.
Leanne graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2010, joining Animal Ark shortly after graduation. She then left for the big wide world spending 14 months travelling before returning to the Ark in May 2015.
She is extremely pleased to be returning to her familiar clients and patients again to assist in keeping them happy and healthy. Leanne enjoys all areas of veterinary medicine but has a particular passion for soft tissue surgery and feline medicine.
When not at work Leanne enjoys photography, painting and horse riding.
Marcella graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2008 at University of Pisa, Italy.
After leaving the shadow of the leaning tower she practised veterinary medicine in her native Rome, mainly in emergency care.
She then took a break from the veterinary world to focus on Animal Conservation, working in Florida, Africa and the jungle of Honduras chasing bats, before returning to her original passion and moved to the UK in 2016, where she has been a veterinary surgeon both in first opinion and emergency practices.
Marcella ended up in Essex, where she now lives with her partner, her dog Brillo and her cat Paglietta.
As well as all aspects of vet medicine and soft tissue surgery, she has a keen interest in veterinary physiotherapy, laser treatment and chronic pain management. She is currently studying a Diploma in Galen Myotherapy.
When not working or studying you can find her camping in the forest or climbing some mountain, reading a good book or at the local pub, and if it’s not raining, exploring beautiful London.
Hayley graduated from the Royal Veterinary College and since then has been working in busy small animal hospitals in Essex and London.
Hayley has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery and emergency and critical care.
At the end of this year she will be working on behalf of Animal Ark Vets for an animal charity in Sri Lanka looking after strays.
Outside of work Hayley enjoys long walks in Highgate where she lives, rewarded with a nice glass of wine at the local pub and keeping up to date with the art exhibitions across London.
Kurran has been part of the Animal Ark team for over 10 years, initially working on weekends before going on to complete a degree in Animal Science at Nottingham University and then Veterinary Medicine at Warsaw University of Life Sciences. He had the good fortune of undertaking practical placements in America and India during his studies.
Kurran is a local boy and it is great to see him play an important role in the community.
While enjoying all aspects of vet life, he has a keen interest in soft tissue surgery .
In his spare time Kurran likes to play football, tennis and travel.
Kathryn graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2017 and joined the Animal Ark shortly after to begin her veterinary career. She has been lucky enough to complete many hands on placements in private and charity practice in the UK and abroad, such as Sri Lanka.
Kathryn has a keen interest in all aspects of veterinary medicine but most notably small animal medicine and feline behaviour and hopes to complete a certificate in the future.
Outside of work Kathryn enjoys netball, snowboarding and tasting all the great food London has to offer. Whilst excited to now be living in London, Kathryn also often enjoys a few days in Sussex to spend time with the family pets – 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 rabbits!
Eliza graduated from the University of Bristol in 2019. She joined the team after a short travelling stint during which she spent some time with an overseas neutering programme.
Eliza appreciates the bond between the pet and pet parent, and enjoys the role veterinary medicine plays in that bond.
In her spare time, Eliza is keen on wild swimming, cycling and walking with her family and three dogs back home in Norfolk. She is excited to be living in London and cannot wait to explore the food hotspots and activities on offer.
Lionel graduated from St. George’s University in 2017 and has been with Animal Ark since then.
After obtaining his RCVS membership in 2018 he became a fully fledged member of our Vet team.
In his spare time, Lionel enjoys making furniture, interior design and scouring charity shops for his various collections. He has a strong interest in surgery and feline medicine.
Monika graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon from Trakia University, Bulgaria in 2013. After one year working as a veterinary surgeon she came to the United Kingdom pursuing her quest to build her professional development.
In August 2015 Monika joined Animal Ark initially as part of the night team providing 24 hour round the clock care for our inpatients.
In 2016 she transitioned to the veterinary day team.
Monika owns a cat, a dog and recently rescued a dove called Pigule. She likes to relax with Pilates and yoga in her free time.
Wister joined Animal Ark at the beginning of 2019. Wister is an Australian who spent six years as a vet in a busy mixed practice in regional Australia, before moving to the UK in 2018.
Wister enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, she has a keen interest in emergency and critical care and small animal surgery.
Outside work, she is slowly exploring this new city.
James is our consultant orthopaedic (bones) advanced practitioner in Small Animal Surgery. As a Certificate Holder in Small Animal Surgery he also carries out some of the more complex soft tissue surgery.
James has a keen interest in key-hole surgery, both orthopaedic and soft tissue and in dealing with complex trauma cases.
James holds regular Consultation and Surgery sessions at Animal Ark.
Before joining Animal Ark in 2013 James graduated from Bristol veterinary school in 2003, spending his initial time as a veterinary surgeon focusing on surgery before obtaining his Certificate in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery) in 2009. He has held roles as Head Veterinary Surgeon of multi-vet/branch clinics/emergency care.
